Feedback notifications: email, Slack, Discord and Microsoft Teams

Get an email when a message lands, or a post in Slack, Discord or Microsoft Teams, headed with the project's name and a link to the message. A busy hour is grouped so it stays readable. A daily email is included on the free plan; instant email and chat are on Pro.

Two Cents can tell you when a message arrives. By email, at the pace you choose. In Slack, Discord or Microsoft Teams, one post per message, headed with the name of the project it came from and a link straight to it.

On the free plan you get one email a day, with everything that arrived since the last one. On Pro you get the email the moment a message lands, or in batches every 15 minutes, and the chat channels.

Why I built it

I wanted to know when someone had written without opening a dashboard to check. I also didn't want a tool that could bury my mailbox, or a channel, on the day a lot of people showed up.

A notification only says that something arrived. The link in it takes you to the message in the inbox, where you deal with it.

Email, at the pace you choose

Each project has its own setting, and the email goes to the address of your account:

  • Never, if you'd rather open the inbox when it suits you.
  • Once a day, at 08:00 Brussels time, on every plan. One email, with what arrived since the last one.
  • Every 15 minutes, batched, on Pro. If nothing came in, nothing is sent.
  • Immediately, on Pro. One email per message, the moment it lands.

The subject names the project and the type, so you know what it is before you open it: [CyclingKits] Bug report: The checkout button…. The email holds the message, the visitor's address if they left one, the page it was sent from and a button to open it in your dashboard. A daily or batched email lists the messages it covers, with the first 140 characters of each, and counts the rest. On a day with 140 messages you get one email that ends with "and 115 more in the inbox".

Slack, Discord and Microsoft Teams

On Pro, paste the webhook of a channel into the project's settings and each message posts there as it lands. The post carries the type and the name of the project in its heading, then the message, who sent it, the rating when there is one, the question it answers, the page, and a button that opens it in Two Cents.

Each project can post to its own channel, so you know which project it is before you read a word. Everyone in the channel can follow along, without a Two Cents login.

Setting a channel up is one paste:

  • Slack uses an incoming webhook from your workspace.
  • Discord uses the webhook of a channel, from its Integrations settings.
  • Microsoft Teams goes through a Power Automate workflow, the "Post to a channel when a webhook request is received" one, which Microsoft offers in place of its retired connectors. Its posts come from the Workflows bot, not from "Two Cents".

Text from a visitor is escaped for Slack and Discord and sent to Teams as plain text. A stranger can't slip a disguised link or an @channel ping into your workspace through the widget.

A busy hour stays readable

A project announces its first five messages in an hour one by one. If more come, they're grouped every 15 minutes, and every hour if the rush goes on. After a quiet hour, the next message is announced on its own again. You don't reset anything.

So a launch day, or a post that gets shared, shows up as a few readable messages in a channel instead of a hundred. A grouped chat post spells out the first three messages and counts the rest. Email and chat follow the same rhythm, and every message is in the inbox either way.

What each plan gets

  • Free: one email a day, or none. Messages held past the 25 a month are counted in it, so you know people are still writing.
  • Pro: the email immediately or every 15 minutes batched, and Slack, Discord and Microsoft Teams. Pro starts at 3 projects for €12 a month ($15 outside Europe), and the pricing page has the rest of the ladder.

Notifications are set per project, so one project can email you daily while another posts to a channel.

Where to start

Add the script tag, then open the notifications page of your project in the dashboard and choose how you want to hear. The inbox is where a notification lands you, and custom questions and the context that comes with each message are what the post or the email is about.

Two Cents is free for one project and 25 messages a month, with a daily email included.
